Logical thinking...

Why we need to go to war...

Photosynthesis

This is one of the words I use every day at my job at the orchard, so it just kind of seemed fitting for the past week. I can tell you working outdoors is pretty tiring, but I really don't miss the fresh crispy office air... yuck.
It seems if I let this blog go for a few days I have a harder time getting back on, so I should really try to be disciplined.
Not much has changed in the last few days. We are actively looking for sources of money since it seems the so-anxiously-awaited-job is not showing up. So I applied at Hobby Lobby and at Barnes&Noble. Oh yes. I'm gonna get me some employee discounts...! Well, in case they consider me, of course. It's good to know so many people are thinking of us and praying for us. I'm not getting more patient with time but I am realizing that we also need to give ourselves a break. We have tried and are still trying every acceptable option and I'm growing a little weary of well-meant advice. It just always makes you feel like you've failed to try this one perfect way of finding a job... or if you had only thought of "this" you would have gotten one by now. The realization that not only the "obvious" things are out of our control - like the weather, or sickness or birth and death - is being confirmed to me once again. Sometimes you can do it all and it seems you haven't moved an inch. Other times you do nothing and it seems to fall in your lap.
Well, it's Friday night and I'm tired. Luckily after extensive days of worrying you realize trying to keep the sky from falling is quite futile and you can just rest your legs a little. So, tonight I will just be completely indifferent about whether there will be a job or not. (Yeah right...)

I'm working feverishly on my crafty crafts. I plan to put a few things up on ebay. Not so much for money but for fun... I'd like to see if and what people would buy... well, what they would consider worth their money. If they don't I'm sure I will find great use for everything in my new mansion. :)

Warning - read at your own discretion

This webpage has become somewhat of a challenge. But totally not in a bad way. At first it was me trying to fill it up and now it seems to be taking control a little. It feels like someone is pushing this white paper in front of me asking me to write something. It's a good feeling.

I am a little upset about this war that seems to be coming. I'm not really convinced of its necessity. Also G.W. (no, it's not George Washington... I wish!) is really not good for my stomach. I successfully omitted any reference to 9/11 on its first anniversary, just because I have a really hard time feeling triumphant, plus I can not summon up those historical/serious-but-rather-removed-feelings yet.
Anyway, when G.W. says: "No matter how long it takes, we're going to run them down one by one and bring them to justice." - my stomach becomes very nervous. A mean voice in my head immediately brings up the reference to "christian values" that are supposedly so dear to the man in question and I have a serious situation going on with my digestion.

"No peace without justice, no justice without
forgiveness: I shall not tire of repeating this warning
to those who, for one reason or another, nourish
feelings of hatred, a desire for revenge or the will to
destroy."

I suppose one should stay away from discussing politics and religion. Unfortunately both seem to intrude into my life quite a lot. I apologize in advance for anything someone might find offensive.

Work

It's so nice not to get all depressed and desperate on Sunday night and actually look forward to Monday morning.

Definitely Quilt Addicted

As I wrote earlier I started a quilt course! This is what we completed in the first session... well not really. We made about one ninth of this in the class and the rest I did at home. I am so proud! The finaly quilt will be a wall hanging, made of three blocks and this is the first one. It's called Churn Dash or Hole-In-The-Barndoor. Don't ask me about the names... I wonder myself.

Here you can see the fabrics up close. I just love them. I'm crazy, I know.

Left out

Ok, the wait is over. Lincoln didn't get the job.
: (

Well, on to the next.

Help me I'm addicted!

Well, thank you so much for all your comments! It was really nice to get them!
The interview yesterday went well. Kokomo does not seem like a nice town. I don't know about the people but the surroundings are pretty bleak. Lincoln and I were quite disappointed. What did we do that we seem to be stuck in Indiana for life!? I know I know, there are far worse things in life.
Still it seems we would rather live in Indianapolis and commute to Kokomo.
We will find out on Tuesday if they are considering Lincoln or not.
It's probably about the worst time in years to be unemployed...

Hello?!

And we have a winner.... Kathrin!!! She will carry the title of "Dinka's biggest fan" for a day, given that she made a claim to the prize just mere minutes after the give-away was posted.
I'm glad she liked the stuff and it will be on its way in a few days.

I must admit though that I'm a little disappointed with the response out there! Hello? How about emailing me, people? I must conclude either everyone understands German and read Kathrin's comment, or my "artwork" is not all that great. Obviously the first has to be the case. It just HAS to be because I'm planning even bigger and greater projects and I can't go on thinking everyone considers it hideous. I need some support.. I know I can do it... I am not a loser... I AM creative.. creative, creative, creative!!! (imagine stamping feet and facial spasms)

In an unrelated story I am enjoying my fun minimum wage job. I am working at an apple orchard as a school tour guide... taking kids on a wagon (hence the tractor driving) to pick apples, then showing them the bees and how apples grow and stuff like that. It's really nice and fun. The children are just so funny. The adults are not so, but that's another story. All in all I'm having a good time.

Lincoln is having a job interview tomorrow, so you are all invited to send positive energy... the religious among you can pray. Just kidding.

SURPRISE!!!

This is a premiere for souzek.com/dinka - I am doing a give-away! I recently decided to learn to quilt. I've been playing around for the last few days and will start a real course in about a week. Well my first project turned out pretty nice and I decided I'd give it away to the first person who reads this and emails me.
There's nothing to it - no question to answer, no task to complete... all you have to do is email me if you want the 6 cute place mats I made. As a "prize" you will be mentioned as my biggest fan - given that you must be reading this page quite regularly. : )

Now to the items... They are 6 quilted placemats with applique hearts on them. The're all made of the same 3 fabrics but they are used in different combinations. Also, everything's 100% cotton.

The first picture... shows the pattern:

And the second... shows the materials and colors from up close:

Just email...!!!
