Mind if I ask why you're surprised?
I was personally surprised by how short the conclave was, and even a little bit by the choice, but not as much as I had hoped to be. Drives me nuts when the secular media "predicts" something.

Well, several reasons... he was such a frontrunner in the papers, which usually is never accurate, then his already big role in the church anyway and lastly his age.

The more I reflect on it and see the media reacting, it's almost a let-down. I was so looking forward to the Church shocking the world the way they did back in '78. I wanted that kind of an experience. The Holy Spirit knows best, though, so I'll just have to get over myself ;)
