You've Got Mail Trip
Despite our despair over the complete loss of fun time, Lincoln and I managed to get ourselves and the kids out of the house quite a lot this summer and fall. I am only slowly catching up with the photos and here are a few of one of my favorite trips. We spent a Saturday in August walking around Upper West Side in NYC, stopping at a few locations, where the movie "You've got mail" was filmed. I know it's very corny, but the movie has some sentimental value for us for obvious reasons and also because we got to watch it during the first week we spent together ever (in Vienna in 1999). When I think about that and the fact that 7 years later I am taking a stroll in New York City not just with Lincoln but two kids, I get so overwhelmed and confused with the incredible-ness of it all, that I can only do it a few seconds at a time, because, really, how crazy is that? There we are, four of us (!) basically because of a random online conversation.
Anyway, the movie is a lot of fun, and if you've seen it (especially multiple times like me) the photos will immediately remind you of some very romantic scenes.

God has given us a LOVE, so we can embrace our cross. If we forget our LOVE we will understand our cross as too heavy, too big and totally deformed wood, we could never agree to carry it. With best wishes!

I have to admit, when you first told me you went on a "You Got Mail" tour, I thought "Wow, they really like Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan..."
But now that you explained the sentimental significance, it makes more sense and is all heart warming and stuff.
Great pictures! I loved that film...so funny (dh and I have the X's names--Frank and Patricia, and considering how neurotic and completely off the wall their characters were, it just made it all the funnier for us. We're completely normal of course. ;) lol)
It's been a while since I've been in the city and your pictures have made me long for it. It's so close yet we rarely go anymore. Sigh.
Oh you made me want to rewatch that movie. I have it on DVD and for obvious reasons it's kind of sentimental for me too. :)
Hi Dinka!
Das muss ja wirklich eine besondere Tour für euch gewesen sein!
Es ist herrlich wenn man solche Dinge miteinander hat!
Bussi an die E-Mail-family!

PS:Ich mag den Film auch! :-)
Hello Dinka!
This is one of my favourite films indeed because I like Meg Ryan, Tom Hanks and the story. It must have been a romantic trip. Great!
Without any sentimental significance and not even liking Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks particularly I must say I was pleasantly surprised by the movie when I finally watched it last year. It's a movie that can be watched over and over, refreshing and enjoyable each time.
Had to think of it the moment I saw your picture of that certain corner!
Greetings from Japan!
I love this movie too. I'm sure it was very lovely to revisit some of the places where it was filmed. I really enjoy NYC, it'll be sad to move far away from it if my husband gets a job far from here next year.
