It is nigh

The end of nausea that is. There have been several indicators for this in the past week: I have woken up repeatedly with a strong desire to clean up. By the time I had gotten the kids ready and to preschool etc. I was usually already too exhausted already to really clean, but the desire was there. I've started to care about the dirt! Then, I've made dinner almost every night. Then - brace yourselves - I cleaned the fridge! The fridge, which is basically the hub of all unacceptable odors when you are under the nausea influence. I've also stayed up past 9 p.m. at least 3 times, maybe even more.

The best part of all this is though, that I wake up with a certain sense of control. I have had several moments where life seemed managable - and that's not because life was truly unmanagable before, but my pregnancy-riddled brain just did not let any optimism through. I was to lie down and gestate and apparently thinking about accomplishing other things besides that seemed suspicious to my body and so it was banned. At 14 weeks though (unless this is some cruel joke and the nausea returns at some later point) I am cautiously being permitted to ... live my life outside of the gestating experience. I can't tell you what a relief that is. And just in time for my birthday and Christmas and all the fun stuff. Hooray for the second trimester. Let's just not think about what comes after...
