About Me

My name is Lincoln Souzek and I live in Vienna, Austria with my wife Dinka and three kids (Veronika, Ivan and Nikola). "The country I come from is called the Midwest"; I was born and raised in central Wisconsin, which I have only grown to appreciate since leaving. I studied at Valparaiso University and left after four years with a degree in computer science and a feeling that I should've studied more philosophy. I married the love of my life in 2000, who I met online. Veronika was born in 2003 and changed my life; Ivan was born in 2006 and showed me how limitless a family's supply of love can be; Nikola was born in 2008 and continues to teach me how little I know and how far I have to go. I can go on in nauseating emotional detail (and have on this website) about how privileged I am to be in their lives, but I rarely do so unprompted in public.

I don't sleep nearly as much as I should. I read even less and have bookshelves full of enough philosophy, Russian literature and Catholic theology to cover several graduate-level courses. If I was to be classified as a Bob Dylan era, I'd be happily domesticated, bearded, Planet Waves Dylan. I cry easily, especially when thinking about family or early in the morning. With each passing year I use more superlatives (and more words in general). I work in IT in constant fear that someone will discover that the real reason I come to work is not because computers are my lifeblood but to make money to support my family.

This site is a creative outlet for me to expand upon ideas and express myself through writing or photography that I don't otherwise have. I post pictures much more regularly (read: daily) at the kids site, which I think is telling. I hope you enjoy your stay here.
