Christmas Time is Here (vocal)
A very merry Christmas to everyone that this message reaches, especially those that I will not be able to share a glass of 'nog with in person (and believe me, if any of you were here, I would gladly raise a toast with you). I have compiled a short list of what the season has been accompanied by for me. Feel free to join in:
- Refreshment of the Season: My homemade (first time!) egg nog. Good. Really good.
- Feast of the Season: Leg of lamb. Wish me luck.
- Soundtrack of the Season: A Charlie Brown Christmas Original Soundtrack, by Vince Guaraldi. Not only is it packed with childhood memories (from the TV Christmas special), it has some beautiful jazz for the season.
- Movie of the Season: While my standard response would be Home Alone (I was a kid, give me a break) or National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, this year I'm going with The Royal Tenenbaums. While not a Christmas movie in any way, it is the most brutally honest and touching film about family that I can remember seeing, and if you're anything like me, Christmas is intimately tied to family, memories and reflecting on the past. Plus, the soundtrack is home to the previously mentioned "Christmas Time is Here," by Vince Guaraldi.
- Accessory of the Season: Snow. Either you've got it or you don't and at this point, there's not much you can do about it. I'm thankful for the 2+ inches Northwest Indiana is receiving as I post.
Merry Christmas everybody.
My bro's home watching "The Royal Tannenbaums" too!
